For the defense of the city of Sumy, a separate group has been created in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a person responsible for the construction of fortifications has been appointed. This was stated at a meeting with representatives of the Ukrainian and foreign media by the Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky.
"Sumy region. The Russian grouping here remains approximately constant — 50 thousand. Thanks to our active actions in the border zone, in the Kursk and Belgorod regions of the Russian Federation, the enemy was unable to strengthen the Pokrovsky direction with these divisions and brigades.
We take into account the threat to the Sum, but we are taking the necessary measures to protect the regional center. In particular, a separate group has been created as part of the operational-tactical grouping, which is directly responsible for the defense of the Sum and the build—up of the system of engineering fortifications, and the deputy commander of the OTU for fortifications has been appointed," writes Syrsky in his telegram channel.
Syrsky claims that the Russian Armed Forces have been stopped on the Kondratovka— Yunakovka line and "the situation has stabilized."
As reported by EADaily, it cannot be ruled out that Russia will launch a new offensive from the territory of Belarus. This was stated at a meeting with journalists by the Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky.
The offensive, according to him, may occur after the Zapad-2025 joint exercises of the armies of Russia and Belarus scheduled for September.
Recall that Russia does not set itself the task of occupying the city of Sumy, but in principle this is not excluded. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
