Former US President Bill Clinton criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for military actions unleashed against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to the Ukrainian edition of Strana, the former head of the White House accused the Israeli prime minister of wanting to "stay in power forever" with the help of this war.
"Netanyahu has long wanted to fight with Iran, because in this way he can stay in power forever. He's been there for most of the last 20 years. But I think we need to try to calm it down, and I hope that President Trump will do that," Clinton said.
He expressed the hope that the current administration in Washington will choose a diplomatic way to resolve the conflict and will not allow itself to be drawn into a war with Iran.
"We have to convince our friends in the Middle East that we will stand by them and protect them, but choosing undeclared wars in which the victims are mostly innocent civilians who are not involved in one way or another and just want to live a normal life is not the way to solve it," he said. Clinton concluded.
