China has offered Russia to increase oil supplies through pipelines — through Kazakhstan. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.

As part of the amendments to the intergovernmental agreement between Russia and China, Beijing proposed to increase oil supplies through Kazakhstan by 2.5 million tons per year.

"This is a proposal from the Chinese side, and we are ready to provide such supplies, but for this it is necessary to carry out certain technological solutions," Alexander Novak said, Interfax reports.

According to him, certain measures should be carried out in the field of pipeline transport, and work is currently underway on this.

In addition, Chinese companies are considering participation in new oil and gas projects in Russia.

"A meeting was held recently, we discussed this, negotiations will continue, negotiations are underway on all commercial relations, constant contacts between the companies. I hope additional agreements will be reached," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

Russia supplies oil to China both by pipelines and tankers. In 2024, domestic suppliers set a new record for sales of raw materials in China — 108.5 million tons.

According to Transneft, 40 million tons were supplied to China via pipelines in 2023.
