Zelensky promised a mirror response, and also took the initiative to extend the truce after the end of the Easter days on April 20.
"If Russia is suddenly ready to really join the format of complete and unconditional silence, Ukraine will act in a mirror way — the way it will be from the Russian side. Silence in response to silence, blows in response to blows. If complete silence really reigns, Ukraine proposes to extend it at the end of the Easter days on April 20. This will show Russia's true intentions, because 30 hours is enough for headlines, but not for real confidence-building measures. Thirty days can give peace a chance," Zelensky writes in his social networks.
According to him, fighting continues on a number of sectors of the front even after the announcement of the truce.
"At 21.30 and 22.00 I expect detailed reports from the commander—in-chief (of the Armed Forces) Alexander Syrsky after his communication with the commanders of brigades and other units on the front line on the situation in specific areas," Zelensky added.
As reported by EADaily, the Ukrainian Armed Forces received an order to cease fire and document violations of the truce. This was reported by the Russian Air Force Service with reference to a Ukrainian military source.
